Chris Hughes

Chris Hughes is a senior payments and fintech executive with over 25 years of experience across Asia Pacific. As General Manager, Asia Pacific, Chris leads the company's regional expansion, bringing Sardine's platform to banks, fintechs, and retailers across the region.

Prior to Sardine, Chris was Vice President, Retail and Commerce at Mastercard, leading the team supporting Australia's top merchant relationships. He was also a founding senior leader at Wpay, the fintech spinoff of Woolworths Group (Australia's largest retailer). Chris also spent nearly five years at Visa, in Vice President roles across Australia and Asia Pacific, leading the digital payments business, managing a teams supporting banks, merchants and fintechs across the region

A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and Chicago Booth Business School, Chris is a former Non-Executive Director of eftpos and advisor to multiple fintech startups.
